At You Rock School of Music, our group classes and band programs are designed to help students do more than just learn an instrument — we help them become real musicians who can confidently play songs, collaborate with others, and perform together. Whether a student is picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to grow into a more advanced player, our programs are built around creativity, confidence, and having fun while making music.
Students learn the fundamentals of their instrument, including proper technique, musical vocabulary, rhythm, listening skills, and the core concepts needed to play with other musicians. Songs are chosen collaboratively with guidance from the instructor, helping students stay engaged by learning music they actually enjoy. Along the way, students also develop healthy practice habits and gain the confidence to continue playing music for years to come.
As students progress, they have opportunities to join bands and more advanced group programs where they can rehearse with other musicians, work on live performance skills, and deepen their understanding of songwriting, arrangement, teamwork, and musicianship. These programs are an incredible way for students to make friends, stay motivated, and experience the excitement of playing music together in a supportive environment.
The first step toward joining a class or band is booking a private trial lesson. Trial lessons allow us to evaluate the student’s experience level, musical interests, and goals so we can place them in the best-fit class, band, or private lesson program. Private lessons are available in both 30- and 60-minute weekly sessions and often work alongside our band programs to help students grow even faster.

Having goals, such as concerts or shows, helps the students to excel. Bands are for kids, teens and adults. Band members will learn:
The role of your instrument in a band
How to learn songs on your own
Songwriting techniques
Band rehearsal techniques
Performance techniques
How to set up and use the gear needed to rock
Performance experience
Communication and interpersonal skills
We want our students to be able to have a good understanding of the Beginner curriculum prior to joining a band. It makes the whole band work more efficiently, which is ultimately more fun.
I’m an adult and I’ve been playing music on and off my whole life. I already know how to do most of the things in the Beginner Class, what can I do at You Rock School of Music?
We have bands for adults too! If you want to start jamming with other people in the same boat as you or brush up on your skills and to make music a bigger, more regular part of your life, please come in and we will place you with the right group!
