SEAN P. ROGAN
My name is Sean P. Rogan and I am a music teacher located in Cranston, RI. I have a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (K-12) from Berklee College of Music and over 20+ years of experience performing, touring, recording and teaching.
In 1996 at Berklee, my friends and I started a band called Big D and the Kids Table. We have played 1000+ shows in over 20 countries, recorded multiple albums, videos and have established a strong fan base throughout the world. I left the band in 2010 to settle down and start a family. I now sing and play guitar in a Huey Lewis and the News cover band called Power of Love. We are based out of Boston and every show we play is such a great time.
I am also a photographer, have about 1000 skydives, have been studying Iyengar Yoga since 2008 and have been happily married to my beautiful wife, Emily since 2009. We've got a 5 year old daughter, Maggie and a 9 month old son, Van. They rock.
Living the dream.
I'm Jane Oliver, affectionately known as the Deputy Director of You Rock School of Music. Music has been one of the greatest loves of my life for as long as I can remember. I love listening, playing, performing, and helping other people engage more with music in their own life. Specifically I love to make mixed CDs or hand-crafted playlists for people. I also love coffee, running, and horses. So, if any of those subjects interest you, we can certainly talk about them when you come in to You Rock as well.
I am from the great state of South Carolina, and my husband and I had the good fortune of moving up here a couple of years ago, right across the street from Sean and his wife, Emily! I began playing the guitar, and wound up being in one of the adult bands through You Rock! It has been one of the greatest experiences in my life.
The rapid growth in the school, combined with my passion for people and music, led Sean and I to start working together. It is such a gift being able to manage this school and serve as the Deputy Director of You Rock. I love making friends with every single person that walks through our doors. And I love introducing everyone to good country music. Don't knock it until you have given me a fair shot.
This school changes people's lives for the better, and it is such a privilege to be a part of it. So, y'all come join in on the fun!
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Ben has played drums for more than 25 years. In the past, he toured and recorded with Providence-based Sick Electric, and is currently writing new music with that group again. Ben has taught drum lessons at You Rock for two years, and his teaching style driven by the belief that music education goes far beyond mastering an instrument- It can give someone hope, a unique voice, as well as build self-confidence.
Some of his favorite musicians are: Tool, The Beatles, John Zorn, The Bad Plus, Led Zeppelin
*a note from Sean: Ben introduced me to Led Zeppelin when we were at Aldrich Jr. High School in 1991and changed my life. He also showed me how to observe music on a much deeper level than just hearing it.
Hi, I'm Adam Theroux and my musical journey started when was at the age of 5 and begged my mom to take piano lessons. I picked up guitar in 4th grade, trumpet in 6th and have since become more than familiar with bass, drums, vocal technique as well as music production.
I've been in bands since my early teens, which is actually how I met Sean more than half of my life ago. Having traveled the continent playing music in clubs, colleges and basements in my teens and twenties, I decided to go to school for Audio Production, so I could work in a music venue or recording studio.
I attended New England Tech for an Associates Degree Program in Audio/Video, and fell in love with video production at school. I now work at Channel 12 and Fox Providence, production television commercials.
I am so happy to be a part of the You Rock team because it gives me a great excuse to play music every week, no matter how busy... as well as teaching our local rock stars in training the joy of music!
My name is Ian Pharo. I've been teaching and performing music since 2003. I started playing guitar in 6th grade and never looked back. My current instruments are guitar, bass, ukulele and vocals. Music has been a huge part of my life and I was lucky to be surrounded by musicians who where nice enough to share their skills with me.
